About
Hi, I’m Raquel Schroeder
I’ve spent 14 years in the air, exploring new places, meeting new people, and finding meaning in the little moments that happen between takeoff and landing. I never stop moving — and I don’t think I ever will.
I was born and raised in Anchorage, and my family is from Dillingham in Bristol Bay. I’m a shareholder of Bristol Bay Native Corporation and a member of the Curyung Tribal Council, and those roots mean everything to me.
I come from a culture built around gathering, eating together, sharing stories, laughing loudly, showing up for each other, and caring deeply for our people. That warmth is part of who I am — the way I host, the way I talk, the way I listen, and the way I move through the world.
I earned my degree in Indigenous Education from Iḷisaġvik Tribal College, where I learned even more about identity, community, and the importance of knowing who you are and where you come from.
My life has always been shaped by movement — early flights, mountain trails, cold rivers, new cities, and quiet moments that catch you by surprise. Alaska raised me to love the outdoors, to find beauty in the elements, and to feel at home in wild places.
Whether it’s fly fishing, biking along the coastal trail, chasing a sunrise on a layover, or exploring a new place with my son, adventure is the thread that runs through everything.
But more than anything, I’m drawn to connection — the conversations that linger, the people who feel familiar even when you just met them, the gathering around food, the laughter, the energy, the warmth.
I believe in intention, presence, and finding beauty in the details:
a good cup of coffee before a sunrise flight, wind on my face, shared meals, and those moments that make life feel full.
This space is a reflection of all of it —
my culture, my travels, my roots, my curiosity, my rituals, my adventures, and the stories that shape me.
Thanks for being here. I’m glad our paths crossed.
IF YOU COULD ONLY PICK ONE LAYOVER CITY TO RETURN TO FOREVER, WHICH WOULD IT BE?
Somewhere with good food, walkable streets, and warm air — a place that feels both foreign and familiar when the sun hits right.
WHAT’S YOUR FAVORITE PART OF BEING A FLIGHT ATTENDANT?
The people. The conversations. The tiny human moments at 35,000 feet that remind me how connected we all are.
WHAT MAKES A GREAT DATE FOR YOU?
Something simple but intentional — a drive down the Arm, good coffee, a cozy dinner, or exploring somewhere new together.
HOW WOULD YOU DESCRIBE YOUR STYLE?
Soft Alaska luxury: cozy layers, natural textures, earthy colors, effortless beauty, a little wild, a little feminine.
WHAT’S AN ALASKA NATIVE TRADITION YOU LOVE?
Sharing food. Gathering. Laughing. Taking care of people. It’s the heart of how I connect.
WHAT’S YOUR GO-TO “LET’S GET OUT OF TOWN” SPOT?
Alyeska — spa, snow, steam, mountains. Instant reset.
WHAT’S A SMALL RITUAL THAT GROUNDS YOU?
Coffee before sunrise flights, clean cold air on my face, and quiet moments with my son.
WHAT’S ONE THING YOU’LL ALWAYS SAY YES TO?
Trying new food, exploring a new place, or anything outdoors with good company.
